Markus is a member of the Office of the CIO, responsible for all aspects of Strategic’s investment process, portfolios, and performance. He also serves as a member of Strategic’s Board of Managers. Markus is responsible for assessing, coordinating and communicating Strategic’s economic, capital markets, investment strategy and management outlook. He works closely with investment, research and analytical staff in developing, integrating, and implementing investment policy for the firm’s clients. He is also a member of Strategic’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, a cross-functional team that works to develop and retain diverse talent both within the firm and within the financial industry, to encourage and evaluate diversity within our sphere of influence (our firm, our managers, our vendors), and to foster an equitable and respectful work environment throughout the firm.
Prior to joining Strategic, he was Deputy Chief Investment Officer at Amundi Asset Management in London. Prior to Amundi, he worked at Dresdner Kleinwort in London as a Managing Director, Chief Debt Strategist and Global Head of FX Strategy, and at the International Monetary Fund as economist in the International Capital Markets division. Before the IMF he was Head of Global Strategy at Credit Agricole Asset Management in London and Paris.
Markus holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Wayne State University and holds the Advanced Studies Certificate in International Economic Policy Research from the Kiel Institute of the World Economy. He also has an M.A. in Economics from Wayne State, and completed his undergraduate studies in Economics and Political Science at the University of Freiburg in Germany.
