Strategic's 13th Annual Idea Lab Conference
Strategic Investment Group hosted its 13th annual Idea Lab on September 26-27, 2017.
This forum provided an opportunity for the Strategic team and speakers from the world of politics, academia, and the investment industry to discuss key market drivers, assess investment opportunities, and debate the prospects for generating alpha in the current market environment.
During two days of workshops, panel discussions, lectures, and presentations, participants explored how Strategic seeks to add value, build robust investment portfolios, and manage risk. Speakers and attendees explored current challenges to asset management, including current geopolitical fault lines, lofty asset valuations and the dynamics of the debt cycle, and exchanged views on approaches to investment management and portfolio construction.
One of the highlights of the Idea Lab was a keynote speech given by Steven D. Levitt, Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago and co-author of the Freakonomics series. After an elegant dinner atop the historic Hay Adams overlooking the White House, Professor Levitt demonstrated the power of thinking like a freak through a series of engaging vignettes applying a unique and clever approach to problem solving.
This year’s Idea Lab is yet another example of Strategic’s commitment to remain a pioneer and thought leader of the Outsourced CIO industry, nearly 30 years after its founding.
